The Intellectual Affairs Department begins the project of restoring the manuscripts of the Askariyayn Holy Shrine

The Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has commenced the manuscript restoration project of the Askariyayn Holy Shrine.

The director of the Al-Fadl Center for the Preservation and Conservation of Manuscripts and Documentary Archives affiliated with the department, Mr. Laith Lotfi, said: "Our teams have started restoring the first batch of manuscripts from the Askariyayn Holy Shrine, as five precious Qurans that were in its library's treasury have been preserved and restored."

He added that "the project includes precise technical procedures such as cleaning the manuscripts, stabilizing them, addressing the partial damages they have sustained, as well as digitizing them, which contributes to facilitating access to them and enhancing their utility in research and historical studies."

This step falls within the department's efforts to preserve manuscript heritage and documentary archives, presenting them as a scientific and cultural resource that serves researchers, historians, and those interested in the history of Islamic civilization.
